Overview:The Groundskeeping Assistant will work in conjunction with the Head Groundskeeper to ensure a safe and aesthetically pleasing professional baseball field. As a student of the industry, you will learn best management practices for hybrid Bermuda grasses, the high-performance infield skin, and other clay areas. In your role, you will also have the opportunity to oversee a contingency of part-time staff in preparation of Myrtle Beach Pelicans’ baseball games, as well as potential concerts, regional showcases, and other community outreach events. It is our goal to prepare you to advance your turfgrass career in the sports and entertainment industry. Responsibilities:Daily planning and maintenance of field operations and eventsClay repairs – the infield skin, mounds and home plate, and the warning trackCultural practices – mowing, aeration, topdressing, verticutting, and fertilizingBasic equipment operation and maintenanceTarp handling and inclement weatherOther duties as assigned Qualifications:Sports turf management education and experience, preferredA professional work ethic with strong attention to detail and the desire to learnEffective communication skills across various levels and backgroundsCharismatic team player with the ability to perform well in high-stress situations The ability to lift, push/pull 75+ lbs. experience.
