Position Title: Merchandise Operations & E-Commerce Intern Location: Paterson, NJ / Hybrid Department: Merchandise Duration: Summer (August–January) Compensation: Unpaid (For College Credits)About the RoleThe New York Cosmos and New Jersey Jackals are seeking a passionate and motivated Merchandise Operations & E-Commerce Intern to join our Revenue & Events team. experience in professional sports. As a Merchandise Operations & E-Commerce Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting merchandise planning, retail operations, inventory management, Shopify e-commerce, and live event retail execution across both professional soccer and baseball. experience at Hinchliffe Stadium through matchdays, community events, online sales, and special merchandise launches. Key ResponsibilitiesSupport merchandise operations during New York Cosmos and New Jersey Jackals home games, community events, and special activationsAssist with inventory management, receiving shipments, product organization, and stock replenishmentLearn how merchandise is planned, launched, and managed from concept through retail salesAssist with Shopify product listings, inventory updates, online order fulfillment, and e-commerce operationsHelp merchandise and maintain retail displays throughout the stadium and at off-site eventsSupport product photography, merchandise organization, and promotional product launchesCollaborate with the Marketing and Creative teams on merchandise promotions, theme nights, and fan engagement campaignsAssist with mobile retail operations, pop-up shops, and community merchandise activationsHelp track inventory movement, sales trends, and product performanceParticipate in brainstorming sessions for new merchandise collections, limited-edition products, and fan retail experiencesRequirementsCurrently pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, Entrepreneurship, or a related fieldStrong organizational skills and attention to detailPositive attitude with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environmentComfortable working independently and collaboratively within a teamExcellent communication and time management skillsAvailability to assist during evenings, weekends, and home games as neededPassion for sports, retail, fan engagement, and live eventsNice to HaveFamiliarity with Shopify or other e-commerce platformsExperience with inventory management, retail, or customer serviceExperience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative toolsInterest in apparel, sports merchandising, fashion, or product developmentKnowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google SheetsInterest in professional sports business and revenue generationWhat You'll LearnHow professional sports merchandise operations are managed across two sports organizationsThe complete merchandise lifecycle from product planning and purchasing to retail sales and fulfillmentBest practices for Shopify e-commerce management, online merchandising, and inventory controlHow retail operations are executed during professional sporting events, concerts, festivals, and community activationsHow merchandise supports branding, fan engagement, sponsorships, and overall business strategyHands-on experience with inventory systems, sales reporting, retail merchandising, and operational planningExperience collaborating with Marketing, Creative, Partnerships, Ticketing, and Stadium Operations to execute successful retail initiativesValuable professional experience working in a collaborative sports business environment while building skills applicable to careers in sports, retail, marketing, and event managementPlease submit your resume and a short cover letter explaining why you're excited about joining the New York Cosmos and New Jersey Jackals.
