Position Summary The Sport Science Coordinator will assist in using technologies to help the coaches and the rest of the High-Performance team individualize training plans. The Sport Science Coordinator will work closely with the Chattanooga FC's MLS NEXT program and women’s team. They will also have regular interaction with the organization's athletic care and training, medical and technical staff. This position reports to MLS NEXT Director, Director of Performance, and Women’s Team Head Coach.
Essential FunctionsParticipate with MLS NEXT teams and CFCs women's team as a Sports Science CoordinatorCollect, clean, and analyze club GPS data for incoming players to project in-camp loadCollecting and interpreting force plate data using Vald force deck to help guide load management strategies during trainingAssist and run catapult live on-field workload management to achieve individual thresholds in real-timeCollect and clean post-session GPS data immediately following training to ensure timely delivery of data visualization to all key stakeholdersAssist in delivering nutrition and hydration strategies to enhance performance and optimize recoveryAssist medical staff in end stage return to player protocol to return injured players back to peak performanceAssist in collecting the morning screening to guide player training involvement and load modificationAssist with delivering one-on-one technical sessions to achieve on-field physical objectivesAssist in delivering club-led individual resistance training programsAssist with team activation and cooldown Participate in high-performance department meetingsAssist in administering physical strength and conditioning tests for the playersAssist in leveraging technologies to set individualized on-field external load thresholds on normative dataMaintain a clean exercise database to aid in the planning of key physical outputsAssist with other duties needed to help drive the CFC Purpose, fulfill our Mission, foster our VisionKnowledge, Skills & Abilities2-3 years of experience in sports operations, sporting event or administrative managementBachelor’s Degree majoring in Sports Science, Kinesiology or related field (Masters preferred)Basic knowledge of soccer and the professional sports landscapeTechnical proficiency including Microsoft office, google suite, Gmail, and required platformsAbility to work effectively with young players and their parentsAbility to work within a multidepartment team environment Ability to maintain confidential informationAbility to foster strong relationships and build trust with othersCapability to represent the Club with professionalism, respect, and accountabilityStrong verbal communication skills and telephone etiquetteExceptional organizational and time management skillsAbility to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environmentExcellent collaboration and interpersonal skills for team information sharingAbility to analyze situations, identify challenges, and develop innovative / unconventional solutionsCapacity to adapt to changing priorities and challengesCommitment to continuous learning and skill development Licensing and CertificationsCSCS, PES or equivalent certificationPossess and maintain a current and valid driver’s licenseFirst Aid and CPR certification requiredPossess and maintain a current and valid driver’s licenseAdditional RequirementsMust have or be willing to complete SafeSport trainingMust have or be willing to complete concussion trainingMust have a reliable personal method of transportationMaintain legally required employment eligibility without Club sponsorshipMust possess a personal laptop for effective / efficient work outputPhysical Requirements Medium - lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds frequently. Bending, stretching, and reaching requires. Some sitting and climbing, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended time.
Physical Environment: This position is routinely exposed to external elements which include heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and extreme weather conditions.
