OverviewThe Public Safety Supervisor will play a key role in leading, supervising, and/or developing the members of the security team. ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise a team of internal and contracted security, ensuring they are well-trained, motivated, and capable of delivering exceptional security and customer service. duties, and monitor performance to maintain a high level of professionalism and safety. Reports to the Public Safety Manager any breakdowns or deficiencies in the security operations within the convention center premises, including entrance and exit points, parking areas, exhibition halls, meeting rooms, and other designated areas. Monitor surveillance systems, conduct regular patrols, and respond to security incidents or breaches in a prompt and efficient manner. Strategically plan and manage crowd control measures to prevent overcrowding, maintain orderly behavior, and ensure the smooth flow of visitors. Effectively handle potentially difficult situations with tact and diplomacy, employing de-escalation techniques as necessary. Maintain open lines of communication with the security manager, event managers, clients, and other departments within the convention center to exchange relevant security information. requirements and potential risks. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, such as fire safety codes and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. Maintain accurate records of security incidents, investigations, and daily activity logs. QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in security management are highly desirable. Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the security industry, preferably in a convention center or similar venue. Strong knowledge of security principles, practices, and procedures, including emergency response protocols. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with diverse individuals and handle sensitive situations effectively. Sound judgment and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations. Proficiency in using security equipment, surveillance systems, and incident reporting software. The ability to stand, walk, and perform security duties for extended periods. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
