Certified Basketball - Referee (Part-Time)

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a candidate with prior experience in officiating basketball games. Experience in maintaining impartiality and making quick, accurate decisions under pressure is essential for this role. Referees are responsible for understanding and enforcing rules and safety guidelines in a friendly, competitive environment. Responsibilities & DutiesOfficiate basketball games by enforcing the Volo rules and regulationsMake quick and accurate decisions regarding fouls, violations, and pointsCommunicate effectively with players, hosts, and other officialsMonitor game clock and manage timeouts and intervalsInspect and setup game equipment and facilitiesMaintain control of the game to ensure player safety and fair competitionReport any incidents or altercations to the appropriate authoritiesParticipate in ongoing training and certification programsBasketball Referee Qualifications & SkillsPrevious experience officiating basketball at various levelsStrong knowledge of basketball rules and regulationsAbility to make quick and confident decisions under pressureExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPhysical fitness and staminaAbility to remain impartial and fairProblem-solving skills and conflict resolution abilitiesWillingness to travel for games and tournamentsOngoing commitment to learning and professional developmentHigh school diploma or equivalentCertification from a recognized officiating associationIn-depth knowledge of basketball rules and regulationsEffective communication skillsPhysical ability to perform the duties of a refereeAttention to detail and strong observational skillsAbility to manage stressful and high-pressure situationsAvailability to work evenings, weekends, and holidaysOther NeedsMust be available for a minimum of eight weeks, as follows:Weekday availability from 5:30pm-11:00pm Weekend availability between 9am - 11pmMust have reliable transportation to and from field locationsMust be able to pass Volo referee certification testWhat We Look For:People with a passion for sports and social activitiesMust value punctuality and professionalismPrior referee experience a plus, but not requiredExperience in diffusing challenging situations a plusVolo is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer that proudly pursues and hires a diverse workforce.
