Position SummaryThe Team Director, Business Operations leads all commercial and business functions for the New York Sirens, owning revenue generation, fan experience, and local market execution. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategy across marketing, ticketing, partnerships, PR, and community engagement, while leading a team of 10-15 staff members.
A key leader within the PWHL, this individual is responsible for growing the audience, maximizing revenue, and delivering exceptional on- and off-ice experiences in the New York market; all while operating as a collaborative, one-team partner to the broader league.
Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesWork in conjunction with the League to manage and execute the business operations of the New York Sirens in the New York market.
Develop and implement business strategies to achieve revenue targets and growth objectives.
Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Manage game-day operations, ensuring a seamless and engaging fan experience at every home game and event.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 10-15 full-time Business Operations staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including sponsors, community partners, and local organizations. Leverage deep knowledge of the New York market to propose new initiatives and partner with the league to fund and execute those strategies.
Serve as a strong communicator within and outside of the organization.
Act as a visible representative of the PWHL within the hockey ecosystem and local community, reinforcing and promoting the league’s vision, mission, values, and culture.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience working at a leadership level in the sports industry or a related field.
Proven experience in business operations, revenue generation, and team management.
Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing talent.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field.
Experience in professional or elite-level sports, with particular familiarity with women’s sports and/or hockey.
Demonstrated success driving ticket sales growth and fan engagement in a competitive sports market.
Experience managing cross-functional teams across marketing, ticketing, partnerships, and community engagement.
Flexibility & TravelThe Team Director, Business Operations must be available on-site at all New York Sirens home games and events. Frequent attendance at practices and other market activities is expected, as is occasional travel to away games with the team (via bus and air) as needed.
