Under the direction of the Associate A.
D. / Head Football Athletic Trainer, the Athletic Trainer assists in the management of the overall Athletics Sports Medicine program within athletics, university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, and, under the direction of team physicians, is responsible for the care and prevention of injuries for assigned sports and football student-athletes.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Research best practices / establish proficiency in the execution of emergency care, injury prevention / reduction, student-athlete recovery, and monitoring during return to play progressions within evidence-based practice and guidelines / standards / protocols set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the State of Florida Department of HealthActively communicate / collaborate with team physicians, supervisor, athletic training staff, sports psychologists, performance nutrition, sports performance and coaching staff regarding student-athlete injury, health, wellness and athletic participationOrganize and execute pre-participation physical screenings of student-athletes for assigned sportsEducate student-athletes regarding best practices towards injury prevention, self-care, and health / wellness promotionProvide medical coverage for all countable athletic related activities, including, but not limited to games, practices, sports performance sessions, etc.
Active records management of student-athlete health, documenting all encounters.
qualifications:Master's degree; NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer credentialsEligible for State of Florida Athletic Training LicenseAthletic training experience at the NCAA Division I level or higherDue to the nature/scope of Athletics and Athletics events, position may require work during evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to stand / walk for extended periods of time and occasional travel.
