    About the OrganizationIn 2026, Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) and Major League Volleyball announced plans for a single, unified league poised to elevate professional women’s volleyball in America. Together, they became MLV, the longest running professional women’s volleyball league and the only one operating with independently owned teams in-market. Built in NorCal, launching in 2027 in the Bay Area and Sacramento, MLV NorCal will bring elite professional volleyball to one of the strongest markets in the country. Led by Kerri Walsh Jennings, Theresia Gouw and Vivek Ranadivé, MLV NorCal is women-founded and women-led. The vision is to build the premier women’s volleyball professional team in North America where we win on the court, lead in the community, and set the standard for the league. MLV NorCal will create a lasting institution for athletes, fans and the next generation. Position OverviewThe Director of Volleyball Operations (DOVO) leads all volleyball operations for MLV NorCal and is responsible for creating a premier professional athlete and team experience. This role oversees team operations, travel, athlete services, practice and facility logistics, league administration, and game-day operations. The DOVO serves as the primary operational leader for the volleyball department, ensuring athletes, coaches and staff have the resources, information and support necessary. This position acts as the central liaison between athletes, coaches, league officials, venue partners, vendors and internal stakeholders. What You’ll Do - Team OperationsLead and oversee all day-to-day volleyball operations to ensure efficient execution of team activities throughout the season. Develop and manage team schedules, calendars, and operational communications. Facilitate effective communication and coordination among athletes, coaches, team staff, and league personnel. Serve as primary point of contact for operational needs. Ensure smooth execution of all team activities throughout the season. Practice & Facility Operations Coordinate all practice scheduling. Manage relationships with training facilities and venue partners. Secure and schedule practice courts for home and visiting teams. Coordinate athlete and staff access to training courts, weight rooms, recovery areas, video rooms, and medical services. Ensure all practice spaces are prepared, equipped, and fully operational before each session. Athlete ServicesLead athlete onboarding. Coordinate player housing and relocation support. Assist with transportation and vehicle coordination. Support international athlete transitions and visa-related logistics. Manage team-issued gear and equipment distribution. Foster a professional, athlete-centered environment by serving as a trusted resource and ensuring a seamless player experience throughout the season. Travel OperationsDirect all team travel logistics, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and professional travel experiences for athletes and staff. Coordinate all travel-related arrangements, including air travel, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, practice facilities, team meals, and per diem administration. Develop and distribute travel itineraries. Serve as the primary operations contact during team travel. experience for athletes, officials, and visiting teams. Oversee team bench, locker room, and competition-area setup. Coordinate logistics with officials, arena staff, league representatives, security personnel, medical providers, and visiting teams. Support community appearances, team events, and league activations. Equipment & Inventory ManagementManage all team equipment inventory. Coordinate the distribution, collection, and tracking of uniforms issued to athletes. Assist with equipment procurement, inventory control, and vendor coordination. Maintain operational readiness of training and competition equipment. Budget & Vendor ManagementAssist in the development and management of volleyball operations budgets. Track travel and operational expenditures to ensure budget compliance. Build and maintain effective relationships with travel partners, hotels, transportation providers, equipment vendors, and other service providers. Ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources while maintaining service levels that support elite athletic performance. League AdministrationMaintain league-required records and documentation. Coordinate roster submissions ,player transactions and other league-related administrative processes. requirements. Strong communicator with the ability to interact professionally with athletes, coaches, executives, league personnel, and vendors. Accountable, resourceful, and solutions-focused. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and team operations platforms. Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered. Experience coordinating budgets, vendor relationships, and operational expenditures. Familiarity with athlete management systems, Teamworks, and Google Workspace preferred. Strong understanding of sports operations, facility management, and event logistics. Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by team and league schedules. Success Looks LikeAthletes consistently report a positive, professional, and well-supported experience throughout the season. Coaches are empowered to focus on player development and competitive performance, rather than operational logistics. Team travel is executed seamlessly, efficiently, and within budget. Practices are organized, fully supported, and begin on time with all necessary resources in place. Home matches and team events are executed professionally and in accordance with league standards. League reporting, roster management, and administrative deadlines are completed accurately and on time. Operational challenges are anticipated and resolved proactively, minimizing disruptions to athletes, coaches, and staff.
