    Job Description

The Director Tournament Business Affairs – Champions manages the relationship between, and acts as a resource for, tournaments, title sponsors, agencies, host facilities, and other external constituents as well as those with internal departments at the TOUR including Television, Legal, Finance, Corporate Partnerships, Business Development, Digital, Communications, etc. Develops and tracks strategic business plans for tournaments via the Tour’s Sales Support Program. QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Sports Management, Marketing, or related area required. Minimum of ten years of hands on experience with professional golf tournament operations, marketing, sales, and/or sports marketing required. Must be proficient with windows-based software package such as Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be able to fulfill an extensive travel schedule. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIESServe as the direct contact at PGA TOUR for assigned PGA TOUR Champions tournaments and their respective Title Sponsors. Develop a comprehensive understanding of each Title Sponsor’s business and their respective sponsorship objectives to provide recommendations that drive ROI and improve the probability of continuing and increasing their commitment to the tournament and TOUR. Establish relationships with Title Sponsors, and their respective agencies if applicable, and ensure open communications between their team, the tournament and the TOUR. Serve as liaison with internal departments to facilitate and guide the implementation/execution of the benefits awarded to title sponsors and tournament host organizations and/or operators. Furthermore, assist internal departments with holding tournament host organizations and/or operations to their financial obligations and operational policy commitments. Ensure proper tournament preparation and execution in the following areas: TOUR Tournament Policies & Guidelines, Player Relations, Tournament Operations, Umbrella Sponsor Requirements, Sponsorship, Communications, Media and Broadcasting. Provide post-event feedback and recommendations as it relates to Title Sponsor Activation, Players, Pro-Am Experience, Marketing/PR, Operations and Financial Performance. Oversee Tournament, Title and Facility contract process and communication thereof with Host Organizations, Title Sponsors and Host Sites. Develop strategic business plans for each assigned tournament outlining goals and objectives to assist with long-term purse strategies, television agreements, title sponsor renewal plans and overall financial stability. Secure tournament budgetary information to properly analyze financial performance and oversee the tracking of sales efforts at each event with regular updates to PGA TOUR management. Identify and capture Best Practices at assigned events to be shared with PGA TOUR Champions tournaments. Assist the Tournament Business Affairs team on any matters of broad interest such as planning the annual schedule, participation in Tournament Advisory Council business, execution of annual PGA TOUR tournament meetings, and exceeding budgetary expectations. Develop and encourage staff to pursue new tasks and challenges related to overall departmental goals and objectives. Contribute to departmental operations, including staffing, budget management/cost containment, and internal communication. Special Projects or other duties as assigned.
