COMPANY BACKGROUNDThe Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are Northern Nevada’s premier professional sports organization. As the smallest market in Triple-A Baseball, the Aces are deeply rooted in the local community, providing the highest level of Minor League Baseball in an intimate city setting. INTERNSHIPCommunity Relations Intern OVERVIEWThis internship provides hands-on experience in community engagement, partner relations, and event execution within a professional sports organization. Interns will actively contribute to the success of the Reno Aces Foundation, supporting fundraising efforts and community initiatives while gaining valuable industry insights.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION Community Partner Engagement & Relationship Building Interact and develop relationships with community partners through exposure to communications, including, phone calls, emails and fundraising efforts Participate in meetings with community stakeholders and organizational partnersUnderstand department workflow and the collaboration required to execute activationsCommunity Outreach & Fundraising InitiativesDevelop a comprehensive understanding of the Reno Aces Foundation and the impact of charitable contributionsAssist in marketing and promoting Archie’s Kids Club, engaging families and young fansSupport the planning and execution of Education Days at the ballparkGameday and Event Execution Experience game-day operations, balancing fundraising efforts, recurring events, and game-specific setupsAssist in community partner activations, ensuring smooth execution on-siteHelp plan and execute external events such as mascot appearances, speaking engagements, and baseball ceremoniesLearn the flow and prioritization of responsibilities across pregame, in-game, and post-game activitiesLEARNING OBJECTIVES Gain hands-on experience in community engagement for both external events and live sporting events A comprehensive understanding of the Community Relations department Community execution for both outside events and live sporting events Cross-department communication and teamwork to achieve organization goalsPROFFESIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND FINAL PROJECTThis internship provides an immersive experience in sports philanthropy, event coordination, and relationship management, making it an excellent steppingstone for a career in community relations, nonprofit management, or sports marketingAt the intern will draft a summary report highlighting key takeaways and how these experiences can be applied to future career opportunitiesTIMELINEThe Community Relations internship will begin March 3, 2026, and will conclude on September 23, 2026, following the end of the Reno Aces regular season. HOURSThis intern is encouraged to be present for two (2) Reno Aces games per homestand (approx. 8 hours) and 2 days in the office (approx. 8hours). Flexibility is available for academic schedules.
COLLEGE CREDIT/COMPENSATIONThe internship may be eligible to earn college credit. Internship is unpaid and is not entitled to a paid job at the internship’s end.
